We got tired of plastic that remembered

The stained lids, the faint smell, the warped edges. HOMBERKING started from a simple swap: put the food in glass and be honest about the lid.

The drawer everyone has

Most kitchens hide the same drawer: a landslide of plastic tubs, none of whose lids match, half of them stained orange, all of them faintly smelling of whatever was in them last. HOMBERKING began with the decision to stop patching that drawer and replace it. Glass for the body, because glass does not stain, warp or hold onto smells. A serious lid, because a container that leaks is just a bowl.

Why glass, honestly

Glass is inert. It does not trade anything with the food it holds, hot or cold, so tomato sauce rinses off it and a reheated lunch tastes like lunch rather than like the container. It survives the freezer and a hot oven, it goes in the dishwasher without clouding, and you can see what is inside without lifting a lid. The trade-off is weight and the fact that glass can break; we would rather give you that honest trade than a plastic one that quietly ages.

The lid is half the product

We spend as much time on lids as on glass. Four latches close on a silicone gasket so a dressing-soaked salad rides level in a bag without a puddle. The lids are BPA-free and phthalate-free, they vent for the microwave, and they share a profile within each size so a spare is a spare, not a whole new set. When a lid finally wears out, that is the part you replace, and the storage guide covers how to keep it sealing for years.

How a HOMBERKING set is made.

Four stages between raw glass and the set on your shelf, each one checked before the next begins.

01

Form the glass

Borosilicate and soda-lime glass is pressed into bodies with thick, even walls and rounded corners that rinse clean and resist chips.

02

Temper & shock-test

The glass is heat-strengthened, then sample pieces are run freezer-to-oven so the batch survives the thermal swings a real kitchen throws at it.

03

Mould the lids

Lids are moulded from BPA-free plastic and fitted with a silicone gasket, then the four latches are tuned to close firm without fighting you.

04

Match, leak-test & pack

Every lid is matched to its base and water-tested for leaks, then the sizes are nested, counted and boxed as a set.

The people behind the sets.

A small team with steady habits: size things to nest, test the lids in water, answer the mail.

Head of Product

Sets the size ladder and lid profiles. Her rule: every size has to nest into the next and share a lid family, or it does not ship.

Reads the American reviews and turns them into changes, from deeper compartments to a firmer latch.

Materials & Safety

Owns the glass and lid spec and the leak test. If a lid weeps in the water bath, the batch waits.
